1964 Ac Cobra - Thames Ditton Chassis Cob 6036 - Regestration CGY226B . This chassis was produced at Ac Cars Thames Ditton as part of the Ac Cobra factory run of just 60 cars . 6036 was a standard slabsided car on wire wheels originally painted vineyard green - it left the uk in the late 70s to be written off by the insurance company after a carburettor fire - The wreck was taken to Brian Angliss in 83 and a new 6036 was built by the staff and Peter Duckett -using an Angliss Chassis and body. The original Thames Ditton chassis /bodywork hardtop and original parts were not used in the reconstuction of a new car . The salvage Period paperwork were taken back to Germany and stored in a barn for the next 20 years . In 2003 we were contacted by the owner and we aquired the salvage -( At that time the Saac described the new 6036 as a replica ). We took the chassis to Ac cars for verification and to have the chassis checked on the factory jig and some minor repairs carried out and restored the vehicle to an Fia spec racing body using some original period exterior panels . We raced the car at the Nurburgring on the Nordschelfe and for its first time out (untested ) it completed the three hour marathon and we were awarded the " Spirit of the event " by the organizers and i must add the Germans do know how to celebrate finishing that race ! We then ran the car at Spa and achieved a top 20 finish of a 70 car grid , moving on to other Uk events we competed well with Co driver Tony Jardine /SteveGray 0n to Brighton Speed Trials 100th meeting .-and a wet Brands Hatch . When we were asked by Goodwood to create an Ac Garage at the revival- 6036 made up a pit car for the event.Appeared at two of our Brooklands events the 2007 100 year Centenery and the 2008 Double 12 -Wings and wheels . Its Body and Chassis are featured in Trevor Legates recent Cobra book . The Car has current Fia HTTP papers and is eligible for historic events and rallys etc .
