Keeping up appearances and tradition, the Revival has it all, and after
10 years it keeps getting better!
Only Goodwood can stage such an event, with the late summer sun, it could only be England and West Sussex at its best. The 2008 Revival
was a brilliant event with 3 days of dawn to dust excitement.
AC Heritage were delighted to be part of the event, entering our 1954
AC Ace in the Fordwater Trophy race which took place on the Sunday. Steve Gray and John Arnold in the second Ace (car number 2) qualified
well in practice, with John finishing the race in a very credible 11th place and Steve Gray in 17th out of a field of 27 entrants, including Stirling
Moss in the 1949 Jaguar XK120. The overall winner of the Fordwater
Trophy was Patrick Blakeney-Edwards in the Jonathan Procter entered
1953 Frazer Nash Sebring.
The highlight of the weekend was the Goodwood Legends parade and celebrations in which Ken Rudd, the original owner of RPO 826 took
part. Along with legends such as Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart,
Derek Bell, David Piper, Sir John Whitmore, Tony Brooks, Jacky Ickx,
Richard Attwood and many more famous names from Goodwoods past. Those no longer with us we also honoured, Peter Collins and Mike
Hawthorn among them.
Following a very moving speech my Lord March and the appearance of a Spitfire on track, Lady March presented all the Goodwood Legends with a commemorative medal to mark the occasion.
