On the weekend of June 28th & 29th the 'Spirit of Brooklands' returned to this historic Motor Racing Circuit to witness a new motoring festival, which is set to become an annual fixture in the social calender. AC Heritage were there to support this fantastic event, with both static and on track display of AC cars through the ages.
It is named in honor of the Double 12 meetings of the 30's when 24 hour racing was not permitted, car instead raced for 12 hours on two consecutive days, the Double 12 !
This year the drivers were tested on manoeuvres based on the 1939 Junior Car Club Rally, including a Concours d'Elegance, with one car and driver winning the overall best in show title.
In support of the Double 12 Event the two current McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 drivers, Lewis Hamilton & Heikki Kovalainen entertained the crowd with some spectacular driving in the 2007 works MP4-22 Formula 1 car, whilst Sir Stirling Moss demonstrated his skills in the 1955 W196 Short Wheel Base Mercedes machine.
AC Heritage were honored to support this event and we would like to thank all those people who provided their vehicles and their time over the weekend. We have over 400 images of the event and these will be loaded in the coming days. If you attended the Festival, we hope this will remind you of just how special it was and if you did not attend, this is what you missed!
